The salmon are abundant in the Sitka region, and the Chinook pouplations increase every year. This is a great fishery! One of the unique aspects of False Island Lodge is our flexibility; we are eager to serve! While most charter operators only offer one approach to salmon fishing, we offer you the option of trolling or mooching. Mooching, which is drifting with live bait, is a great way for everyone on the boat to get a lot of action. Another popular method is trolling with downriggers. Both approaches are very effective methods of catching salmon. The boats feature walk-around decks, accomodating ease of movement around the boat.

Our experienced captains will determine the best method based on current conditions. Our captains were born and raised in Sitka, and are some of the most experienced guides that you will find anywhere in Alaska. Sitka and the surrounding area has some of the best salmon fishing in the world if not the best in the world. We catch alot of salmon every year.

Shrimping and crabbing is another fun part of your fishing day. Our 23-foot Munson Packman can deliver you to our shrimp and crab traps within a few-minutes run from the lodge, and can be a very fun after dinner adventure. There is nothing better than fresh Alaskan crab!
